Approach & challanges

MyPlan functions as the primary internal HR platform across the Woolworths Group, empowering managers and team members to set and monitor mid-year and end-of-year goals and developmental objectives. It tracks individual milestones and team targets, along with facilitating feedback exchange with managers and colleagues.

Recognising the need for improvement, Woolworths Group sought assistance to revamp the platform, addressing its previous clunky and overly complex interface.

The challenge was to design an engaging experience that promotes collaboration and communication among Woolworths' 30,000 staff, all with the aim of enabling growth.

Initially, design thinking workshops were conducted in Australia and New Zealand to gather requirements and understand workflows and processes. This was followed by 16 online interviews with designated users to collect feedback on the existing HR app and gather ideas for improvement. Next, affinity mapping identified pain points and needs, leading to the creation of initial drafts for task flows and a sitemap. Wireframes were then developed and rigorously validated and tested by the Woolworths team before advancing to high-fidelity prototypes. The final design product underwent user testing, leading to iterative improvements for the final version.
